When we learned of April Rey’s condition, our first thought was that her life could serve a purpose by helping others. Unfortunately, we quickly learned that she was not eligible for organ donation.
Our next thought was that we’d love to donate her body to science. We’ve hit some roadblocks with this, but are still actively pursuing this as an option.
Donating her body to science of any level- whether it is high end research or a first year medical student who needs to practice, would bring us great joy.
This morning I woke and realized that we can do even more than this…
My husband and I have set up a gift fund with St. Jude in honor of April Rey. 100% of the funds collected will go directly toward St. Jude.
In this way, her life will touch children and families that are hopeful to find cures, and are in need of treatment. She may not be able to donate her organs, but we can donate funds in her honor that will help children survive. We can think of no better way to honor her.
If you are interested in making a donation of any size, please visit this St. Jude Donation Page in Honor of April Rey.
Thank you again for all of your continued support, kind words, and positive thoughts. I’m speechless, truly speechless for everything.
The amount of people that have sent me their love, whether simply readers of the blog, or friends and family- the outpouring of love and support has been beyond amazing.
The ways that everyone is helping to honor April Rey is breathtaking.
From kind messages, to donations, trees being planted, people lifting her up in positive thought, gardens being planted, rocks being painted, memorial gifts being sent, tattoos being designed so I can keep her with me always, and so much more.
April has already touched so many, and our hearts are filled with love and happiness as a result.
